Three
of the costume drawings for 'Tartuffe' at the National Theatre of Cyprus
in Nicosia (March 1997). Because of pressure of time only these few
were given a colour treatment. All the designs evolved from watching,
drawing and photographing the actors in rehearsal. This made it possible
to present final designs which were fair likenesses of the actors in
their costume which seemed to enhance the company's morale, create some
amusement as well as confidence in me. The actors said that they felt
they knew what they were getting and appreciated being able to negotiate
with me during rehearsals. The production photos
may reveal whether or not their confidence was justified.
